Residential Recycling Made Easy
The City of Joplin partners with Republic Services to provide curbside trash and recycling for residents. Recycling costs $4.87 per month in addition to your current monthly residential trash rate. Signing up is simple and once your cart arrives, you're ready to roll.

What Goes in Your Cart?
The City of Joplin partners with Republic Services to provide curbside trash and recycling for residents. Signing up is simple and once your cart arrives, you’re ready to roll.
Accepted Recycling:
Paper
mail, newspaper, office paper, magazines
Cardboard
cardboard, paper bags, pizza boxes (cleaned out with no food), egg cartons
Plastic bottles / containers
bottles, jugs, tubs, and jars – labeled #1 or #2
Aluminum / Metal
clean food and beverage cans, clean foil and pie pans, empty aerosol cans
Not Accepted:
Glass
Plastic bags
Scrap metal
Plastic 6-pack holders
Needles or syringes
Paper juice or paper milk cartons
Plastic microwave trays
Frozen food, ice cream or frozen juice containers
Tissues, paper towels, napkins
Styrofoam to-go containers or packaging

Prefer to drop off materials? Joplin’s Recycling Drop-Off Center is open to residents of McDonald, Newton, Jasper, Barton, and Veron Counties.

Tuesday & Thursday: 12PM - 6PM
Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday: 9AM – 3PM
What we accept
The center accepts a wide variety of materials including:
- Cardboard & paper
- Plastics #1 and #2
- Metals (aluminum, steel, copper, etc.)
- Glass (lids removed)
- Electronics
- Batteries
- Cooking oil, motor oil, and old gasoline*
